Membership Information

Invitations to apply for NHS are sent out after third quarter grades are finalized. Sophomores and Juniors who have maintained a minimum 3.5 GPA are eligible to apply.

Eligible candidates must attend the mandatory meeting outlined in the invitation letter in order to proceed with the application process.

Application Requirements

Applicants will submit a one-page resume. A cover letter is not required. To ensure fairness, the Faculty Committee requires that the resume include the following:

  • Community Service
    • List specific examples of your service activities.
    • Describe the nature of your work and the approximate number of hours completed.
    • Note if your service was completed through an organization (e.g., 4-H, FFA, FBLA).
  • Leadership Experience
    • List any officer positions or other leadership roles you have held.
    • Provide specific examples that demonstrate your leadership abilities.
  • Academic Achievement
    • Include your current GPA.
    • Add any other relevant information that supports your qualifications for NHS.

All applicants are evaluated based on the four pillars of NHS: Scholarship, Character, Leadership, and Service. The resume should clearly demonstrate the student's achievements in these areas. While GPA reflects scholarship, character, leadership, and service are assessed based on daily interactions and observations by faculty in the classroom and around school.

Selection Process and Timeline

The Faculty Committee will review all applications, considering not only GPA but also demonstrated leadership, community involvement, and personal character.

  • New members will be announced during the fourth quarter.
  • The induction ceremony will take place the following fall semester.
